Human Impact on the Tundra
The tundra is a fragile ecosystem, and most humans that live in the tundra understand that. However the humans that do not live in the tundra do not. The biggest impact from humans on the tundra is global warming. The greenhouse gas we emit in our everyday lives through cars and various other things makes up more and more of the atmosphere. This makes it harder for sun radiation reflected off of the Earth to exit the atmosphere. This makes the Earth's climate hotter, because the sun radiation is trapped within our atmosphere. This especially effects cold places such as the tundra. As the radiation increases the ice melts, that ice once did a great job of reflecting the radiation back into the atmosphere. Now that the radiation is trapped the ice continues to melt and once there is no ice the climate of the Earth and its temperature will increase. All the water from the ice will melt and the global sea level will rise, making parts of the world flood. Another negative effect is that when the tundra gets warmer, the flora and fauna that lives there is not going to be able to adapt. These animals are one of a kind and only live in one place, if we don't try to do something about global warming within the next century these animals will surely become extinct. Please do your part to emit less greenhouse gases.
